After The Peanut Presents The Jazz & STEAM Fundraiser

Joliet, Illinois, February 17, 2022 — The Jazz & STEAM Fundraiser is Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Joliet Historical Area Museum, 204 N Ottawa St. Tickets are available at afterthepeanut.com

The event will feature live jazz by international soul and jazz artist Marcus Adams. Donna Franks-Tapley painter and art educator, will provide an unforgettable experience with a unique work of art. SlingshotVR will host an immersive, 3D, interactive STEAM activity with VR headsets that allows guests to experience STEAM for the next generation. Paired with delicious food and an auction featuring unique experiences, this event will be unforgettable.

During this event, we will be honoring unsung heroes who understand the importance of equitable education and innovative thinking. After the Peanut’s STEAM Innovation Award honors often unsung community leaders. Highlighting professionals, organizations and students that are committed to STEAM innovation helps to bring awareness to STEAM disparities and recognizes individuals that have committed their craft and work to close this gap.

The honorees for this year include Tammy Lackland, Manager, Community Engagement and the Community Engagement Team of Molina Healthcare of Illinois for their commitment to building healthier communities. Our second honoree is, Dr. Jennifer Tello Buntin, Director of Lewis University Center for Community Research and Education for being a leader committed to closing STEM disparities across diverse communities. The final awardee is Debra Upshaw, President of National Hookup of Black Women, Joliet Chapter for her ongoing willingness to leverage the benefits of collaboration and education for youth.

The After the Peanut Foundation is a 501(c)(3) committed to providing equitable STEAM opportunities for youth.
